Charmer Another Esme moment... Esme is behaving badly and has been reprimanded. So she climbs up onto Peter's lap, looks him in the face, and pointing at the frown lines between his eyebrows says "Daddy, what's that?" Peter explains that he's scowling because he is not happy with her behavior. Esme says "I'll give it a kiss Daddy, and then you'll feel better." Clever, clever girl...

Miss Manners? Our kids are generally very polite, and we make it a point to remind them to say please and thank you even at home. But sometimes I guess it just doesn't translate. Here's a classic moment from Esme yesterday. Esme: Give me that! Peter: Where are your manners? Esme: I leave them at school.
Wildlife weekend We had a great visit with Grandma and Grandpa over the weekend, highlighted by a walk through the Marshlands Conservancy and a visit to the Rye Nature Center where a herptologist shared some amazing reptiles with the kids, including an alligator, a water monitor lizard and a python. I'll be honest, it was pretty cool even if you were a grown up. Here are some pictures from our walk in the woods. We saw a flock of wild turkeys, a family of deer, a snake in the path, and an owl standing guard.
I don't like it when her is in London. I'm in London this week, so no pictures of the kids for a few days. Peter told me that Esme asked after me casually on Monday morning. (I snuck out after the kids were asleep on Sunday night.) When he reminded her that I was in London she just said "I don't like it when her is in London." We need some work on the grammar, but the sentiment is sweet. Max used to give me a hard time when I went away, but this time when I told him that I would be gone for a week and back in time for next weekend, he informed me that that was only five days, not an entire week. Can't wait to get home to you guys...
